Trees and Water Fun

Lucien has enjoyed trying to climb trees. Yesterday while climbing over a big log with other children a mom let me know about a tree playground made from some of the fallen trees as a result of Hurricane Sandy. This place was a lot of fun and a great use of natural materials.
Pumping Water
Walking on stumps.
Ready to climb.
A chair made from a log.
Mom sitting too.
Sand to play in, but it was hot.
This is the best place to rest and look around.
Tree Tunnels are fun!

The temperature reached 90 which is hot in New York. We are stayingacross from prospect park and it features several playgrounds with water elements. Lucien got to run and play while getting wet.

Central Park

Across from the museum is Central Park.

We took a walk together to explore our surroundings.
Lucien enjoyed playing on the big rocks.
It was fun, but sandy making a lot of temptation to play in the sand which would not be fun to deal with while traveling. So Lucien played on the structure then we went to find some rocks to climb again.
It looked like so much fun Jill decided to climb the rocks and join Lucien as well.

Book Connections

While Steven had a conference call we set out to see Grand Army Plaza. We know it for where Knufflebunny was switched in the book Knufflebunny Too.

Lucien wanted to go into this.
He noticed it looked like something...

Grand Army Plaza

It is fun to walk under.

On the underside.
Two statues are on the underside. This one is of Lincoln.

This fountain is on the other side of the arch.

Heading back to Prospect Park. Look we saw eagles!

One more look before heading back.

Ready to enjoy another playground in Prospect Park.

Knufflebunny Too Connection!
School is not out yet here in New York, so some kids on a Field Trip were there playing.

Pigeons! I wonder if any have ever wanted to drive a bus?

Day 2 in New York

We woke up to a rainy morning. Steven went to get us coffee and bagels when the rain calmed down some. Jill and Lucien went to get some lunch and breakfast items at a grocery store. Lucien enjoys the sidewalks and doing the code to get into the apartment.

While Steven worked Lucien and Jill went to Prospect Park for a walk. There are actual lanes for walking in each direction, bikes and cars. We saw some water birds by water.

We then went to a playground.
