Summer Travel Begins

We have been planning our trip we begin today for months! It is so hard to believe it is really starting. Huge thanks to AnneMarie for taking us to the airport very early.

Our ride to Newark was easy. It is so hard to believe we start it today. Huge thanks to AnneMarie for taking us to the airport very early. Our ride to Newark was easy. Loud kid behind us with a dad unaware of how annoying this is at 6:35 am We took the trains to New York and had lunch before making our way to JFK.  On Saturday British Airways changed our flight to JFK this was not the original plan , but we had the most of it and stopped for lunch.

The flight over was looking nag as expected. We each slept some but not enough. The line for check boarder was quite longer than usual according to Functional the girl checking and stamping our passports.

We navigated our way to our Bed and Breakfast place. We were lucky to be allowed to check in early. We did take a small rest and cleaned up before going out for dinner.

Baseball: Yankees Game

This spring Lucien played on a T-Ball team named for the Yankees, so we had to take in a ball game of the famous team while in New York. We took the subway from Brooklyn to the Bronx for the game which drops you off right at the stadium.

Our seats were great. The atmosphere of the crowd and stadium made the game fun even when the game was tied at zero or when the Oriels began to lead.

The grounds crew danced to songs and the crowd did the wave which went around at least 3 times.
At the bottom of the 9th with an out and 2 guys on base Beltran came up to hit. Within moments the place was electric as he hit a homerun winning the game!

Earlier in the night we purchased one of the 4 game balls that they sell once the game is over at the stadium store. This will be a great addition to our game room.

Lego Store New York

We took a walk to visit the Lego Store in New York which is right by Rockefeller Center.

The creations made to showoff sights of New York were a lot of fun to look at in the store.

Our imaginations ran wild! This store was also around the block from Nintendo World, so Lucien got one last game in on Mario Cart 8 when we pass by.

Subway Fun

While on the subway we decided to have some fun with the advertising for JetBlue.

A bird on my head.

I am holding a bird.

Grand Central

Often Grand Central Terminal is featured in movies or books. Lucien was quick to notice Pegasus on the ceiling.  The space is really grand.

It is a busy place.

Anniversary Dinner

Our 15th wedding anniversary was actually May 22nd, but we put off going to dinner to celebrate until being in New York. We ate at a West Village resturant Rafele. The pasta was homemade and the sauces for each of our plates were full of fresh flavors.  http://www.rafele.com

Nintendo World

We told Lucien we were going to dinner after a surprise. As we were walking down the street he saw the Pokemon Ball in the window. We then let him know that's where we are going. He gave us a huge hug!
Playing Mario Cart 8 was a lot of fun.
This is a fun sign because Lucien likes Mario Cart and racing his real Kart.
There were a lot of Pokemon stuff. Lucien got a pokeball which he's tried to find back home.

Looking and Shopping

Sitting and waiting in the subway for the F Train

Looking at the How to Train Your Dragon stuff at FAO Schwarz.

Listening to the clock play music before going down to the bottom floor.

Exploring the superhero area. Lucien even gave fist bumps to Spider Man.
In the Lego area we looked at the different sets, models and statues made from Lego.
Batman

Any trip to FAO schwarz in New York must include a tickle on the Big Piano.

There were many toys that kids were encouraged to play with. Lucien really enjoyed the remote ones.
This is another remote car that was fun. It's kinda kike Build a Bear, but for a car.

Yummy Pretzel from a food cart.
Next stop M&M World
Our picture with Blue the M&M.

Wow the choices of M&M colors and flavors. .
Across the street was another sweet place to visit at The Hersey store.
