Tar

We could not pass up seeing the La Brea Tar Pits and taking tour. It's amazing to think that "tar" actually asphalt is seeping up from the ground right there in the middle of Los Angeles.

Tar is heavy.

Wolves

Saber Tooth Tiger

Scientist at work with little tools. Most are volunteers! We liked how the little white boards showed what they were working on.

It is still around all these years later in the middle of the city!

And it stinks.

Disneyland

We simply had to visit Disneyland while in the area. It was a happy place to spend the day.

Star Tours was again a family favorite. Nemo came alive in the submarine ride!

We got quite toasty waiting in line, but A Small World was beautiful.

The Snow White's Scary Adventure and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride brought the stories alive.

Lucien had never ridden a carrousel, so he was ecstatic to do so royally at Disneyland on the King Arthur Carrousel. He specifically picked out this horse because it had a unicorn on the side.

We were happy the Haunted Mansion was quickly fixed after having a quick stop in operations. It did not disappoint. The Pirates of the Caribbean proved to be one of our favorites in spite of getting wet which we were not expecting. We finished the day by returning to Space Mountain and getting to ride it without breakdown issues.

Mother's Day

We spent mother's day at The Griffith Observatory. This place is great because the Hollywood sign is seen with ease and a great view of LA can also be taken in. Then once inside the FREE you get to watch a pendulum show how the Earth is turning, exhibits about seasons, images of the sun and astrological artifacts. We took Lucien to see a planetarium show. He was excited to learn about the stars in the sky and was curious what our favorite constellations.

For lunch we headed to The Original Farmers Market to look around at fun shops and restaurants. We ended up eating at a Greek restaurant.

It was a lovely day!

Beach

After looking at palm trees we took a ride to the beach. We explored Santa Monica.

Then we drove a bit further down to Venice Beach. There were many activities and intereating sights to see.

Palm Trees

When one sees movies of California palm tree lines streets are always seen. We enjoyed driving around near Beverley Hills and Rodeo Drive to see them in person.

Stars

We woke up for some coffee and set the GPS to find the Hollywood Walk of Fame and The Chinese Theatres.
